AMAA Website Information

Hello Everyone!

As you can see the Alberta Marching Arts Association is now live!

We would like to recognize all of the participating organizations in a section of the website. In order to do this we need a little help from all organizations.

For each organization, we need multiple versions of your organizations bio, and the absolute best possible photo of your group.

We appreciate the effort that many groups put into their bios, as they add depth to their presentations at events. However, for our website, we kindly request that each group condenses their biography to a maximum of two short paragraphs. This will enhance the readability and accessibility of the content for our audience. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Additionally, if your organization has multiple unit types (Marching Band, and a Winter Guard) we want a slightly different bio for each activity type.

Types:

  • Marching Band

  • Winter Guard

  • Winter Winds & Winter Percussion (combined category)

For clarity, we do not need 1 bio per unit. We want 1 bio per organization per unit type.

Example:

If Stampede Showband has a summer marching band, and a percussion group. You’ll submit 2 bios curated for Marching Band and Winter Winds

Calgary Stampede Showband - Winter Percussion

The Calgary Stampede Showband’s Winter Percussion program brings the precision and artistry of percussion performance indoors, allowing young musicians to compete and grow in a challenging, high-energy environment. This ensemble reflects the Showband’s legacy of excellence, as members master intricate rhythms and choreography, embodying Calgary’s western heritage while performing on regional and international stages.

Calgary Stampede Showband - Marching Band

The Calgary Stampede Showband was created in 1971 to serve as the musical ambassadors for the Calgary Stampede. The group features over 140 performers between the ages of 16 and 21. Together, we perform year-round and make over 200 appearances annually, including concerts, parades, competitions, special events, and complex marching field shows. We are proud promoters of western heritage and values and are committed to a high level of innovative performance art.

What we need:

  • 2 Paragraphs Max

  • Curated by activity type

    • Marching Band

    • Winter Guard

    • Winter Winds & Winter Percussion

  • Best possible photo of your group

    • activity type

  • Website

Best Practices

We don’t want to be constantly updating these bios

  • Do not “date” your bio by including terms like “last year”

    • Best to avoid dates if possible.

  • Write in 3rd person

  • If the number of units your organization has changes every few years, consider avoiding naming these groups, and use more generic language

Example

In order to show how much space there is to write, here is an example submission exactly how it will display.
