Event Notes

Performers should arrive at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School between 10:00am and 10:30am || Group Check-In will be at the School’s main entrance

Percussion Equipment will be unloaded into your assigned classrooms on the North side of the school. Trucks/Trailers may back into this area for easy unload.

Guard and Winter Wind floors, equipment and props will be unloaded into the school via the Performers Gate.

The schedule allows for a 10 minute equipment warm up in the warm up gym. Movement and music warm ups can be done in each group’s designated space / adjacent hallway. Volunteers will notify periodically of the time remaining.

There is a Captains Retreat at the end of the show for the presentation of scores and awards.

Note: IT IS CRITICAL THAT GROUPS DO NOT ENTER THE WARM UP SPACE PRIOR TO THEIR DESIGNATED TIME. This is in the interest of everyone's safety by reducing the chaos in the space. GROUPS THAT VIOLATE THIS MAY BE DISQUALIFIED AND/OR HAVE PRIVILEGES REVOKED AT FUTURE EVENTS.

Groups are encouraged to watch as many shows as possible! Performers and those with wristbands are permitted into spectator seats, free of charge.

Safety

Anyone ‘backstage’ MUST be either a performing members, staff with wristband or support personal with a wristband.

This is for everyone's safety. NO EXCEPTIONS

Performing groups should move through the event site AS A GROUP. It will be extremely busy backstage, and will greatly help event volunteers if groups remain together at all times.

Parking is free in any of the surrounding lots

Bus parking will be directly in front of the school, along lots 1, 2 & 3.

Schedules

Note: Schedule is subject to changes. AMAA website links are the one true source for information.

Sound Check

Please have one or two representatives join our sound team in the performance gym at 10:30am for a sound check/volume setting of performance music.

Warm Up

Note: IT IS CRITICAL THAT GROUPS DO NOT ENTER THE WARM UP SPACE PRIOR TO THEIR DESIGNATED TIME. This is in the interest of everyone's safety by reducing the chaos in the space. GROUPS THAT VIOLATE THIS MAY BE DISQUALIFIED AND/OR HAVE PRIVILEGES REVOKED AT FUTURE EVENTS.

Guards may use speakers in warm up - Provided it does not overtake the room as there will be ongoing performances.

Retreat

Captains Retreat will be held following the last performance. Please line up in the warm up gym while the last group is performing, in performance order (first performing group will be first out).

Performers with Multiple Groups

It’s very exciting that our community offers multiple opportunities for members to perform! Although AMAA has tried to separate groups with shared members in the performance order, we know that it will be a rush for those members.

  • Quick Changes can occur in the washrooms near the warm up gym, by the On Deck area (highlighted in yellow on the map). Members can pre-set their items here ahead of their performances.

  • Groups should NOT cross the timing line until all members are in the performance gym

  • MC script has lots of content to share - be sure to take a breath and get into the zone

Any day-of concerns can be shared with the AMAA Logistical Liaisons Kareen, Sam or Grace upon arrival on-site.

Sound & Script

Performance Music needs to be uploaded via CompetitionSuite

Script Spiels can be updated with the Mid-Season Change Form

Updates to music and spiels no later than Friday, February 14
